George Werbacher is Head of Security Operations at Live Oak Bank, where he leads enterprise-wide cybersecurity operations and technical security strategy. In this role, he oversees detection and response, security engineering and architecture, vulnerability management, and application security, serving as principal delegate to the CISO.

Previously, he built and scaled high-performing security teams at Blackbaud, Truist Financial Corp, and Capital One, driving large-scale cloud security transformations and establishing security operations capabilities from the ground up. Most recently, he has focused on integrating AI and automation into security operations, pioneering AI-augmented teams that enhance threat detection and response.

George is an Adjunct Professor at Carnegie Mellon University teaching cloud security, and serves on the Computer Science Advisory Board at the University of Texas. He holds an M.Sc. in Information Security from Carnegie Mellon and is a certified CISO.
